INTERVIEW WITH PEDRO BERNABEU FOR INFOPACK MAGAZINE

To mark its 25th anniversary, SISTRADE organized a gathering in Porto in July, bringing together clients and technology partners. During the event, INFOPACK magazine spoke with Grupo ARTENVAS, one of the most prominent Spanish users of its management solutions in the corrugated cardboard segment, with the aim of gaining deeper insight into their experience.

Artenvas, a family-owned company based in Elche, Alicante, has more than a century of tradition and over 50 years of experience manufacturing corrugated cardboard packaging printed in offset. Thanks to its qualified human capital and state-of-the-art facilities, it offers customized packaging solutions aligned with the highest quality standards. Its commitment to sustainable innovation and the circular economy reinforces its role as a benchmark in the graphic-industrial sector, both locally and internationally.

INFOPACK: How long have you been relying on Sistrade’s solutions? Why did you choose them?

PEDRO J. BERNABEU: We’ve been working with SISTRADE since before the pandemic, around seven years. We decided SISTRADE as our IT provider because we needed to incorporate a production control system into our company to replace the one we had, introducing new organizational techniques. We explored several options on the market, and the one we liked the most was SISTRADE’s because it conveyed important know-how within the packaging world, and we knew it would allow us to move forward in that direction. Among all the SISTRADE ERP solutions, we currently use mainly the modules for Estimating, Purchasing, Inventory, Planning, and Production (process control). This ERP is used in our company by the sales and production departments—about 60 people.

IP: What benefits does it bring to your daily operations?

PJB: For us, the main operational advantages come from achieving complete traceability of our production, improved production planning, and improvements in purchasing processes and inventory regulation. The automation of these processes and their planning allows us to know at all times the costs incurred and, therefore, helps us improve management and make decisions regarding the profitability of manufacturing and the plant’s productivity.

IP: How do you rate the support and your relationship with SISTRADE?

PJB: We would like to highlight the professionalism of the people in charge of maintenance, as well as their deep knowledge of our type of business and the challenges necessary to improve its management.

IP: Why would you recommend SISTRADE’s services and solutions?

PJB: Of all the IT systems we have had the opportunity to evaluate for managing production in a business like ours, we consider SISTRADE ERP to be the most complete. With its continuous know-how, it addresses the new challenges of the graphic industry. SISTRADE’s control system adapts to any industrial plant, and so far, it has provided us with information that allows us to work with confidence in what we manufacture and, above all, to understand the data from our production processes.

IP: What do you believe will be the future needs of your sector in terms of software development and applications?

PJB: The applications required in our sector and their development will be highly influenced by legal regulations, especially those related to the environment and sustainability, as well as the integration of new technologies such as AI. As a result, companies will need to be increasingly efficient and agile. All this will require progress in improving traceability of materials used, their control, enhancing process automation, and the information provided by the system.

IP: What do you value most in software development for labels/packaging?

PJB: Planning management and process control reliability, automation and traceability, and obtaining an information backup that allows us to perform advanced analytics and simulations that help continuously improve the entire production process.
