Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results: The overall objective of CHIC is to develop a set of products, services and systems, based on open and interoperable platforms, in order to create a true national unit in this area.
In this context, a set of specific objectives is forecasted, namely:
(i) To promote the migration of current systems of capture, production, management, distribution of content to a paradigm based on Cloud, this way allowing the creation of flexible workflows, open systems and new business models that address the needs of current clients and the specifics of future clients, also promoting a process relocation and a natural scalability of the solutions found;
(ii) To value the national historical and cultural heritage through the introduction of new methodologies and technological artefacts for preservation, facilitation of access and interaction with them, in order, on the one hand, to improve the public service provided to national and to the diaspora citizens and, on the other hand, to create expeditious mechanisms for the internationalization of these contents;
(iii) Improve the quality of service (QoS) and of experience (QoE) of the final consumer of the contents, through the design of new immersive environments, augmented or with a significant improvement of quality, that increase the number of visualizations of the contents produced and, in this way, induce the creation of new contents, positively contributing to the creation of new jobs, as well as the identification of new business opportunities in Portugal and abroad.
The project is based on a methodology that includes performing 10 activities:
Activity 1: Cloud-based services platform to support the production and dissemination of scientific audio-visual content
Activity 2: Collaborative production of content in the cloud for large events
Activity 3: Consumer-centred television production and distribution ecosystem, in a cloud environment and using decentralized inputs
Activity 4: Platform in cloud environment to support production and monetization of local and regional social media content, oriented to the provision of content to the diaspora
Activity 5: Technological platform in support of the National Cinema Plan - promotion of cinema literacy and dissemination of Portuguese cinematographic works projected in movie theatres
Activity 6: New platforms for the dissemination of content in the area of tourism and heritage
Activity 7: Interfaces in natural language for online browsing and cable distribution systems
Activity 8: Conception framework, ingest and transport of high resolution content in IP environments
Activity 9: Creation of a framework for the production and spatial referencing of content with deployment for augmented reality and/or TV solutions
Activity 10: Development of a platform for the management of the production of digital contents for book valorisation and auxiliary production tools
