Main objective | Reforçar a investigação, o desenvolvimento tecnológico e a inovação
Region of intervention | North of Portugal
Beneficiary |
Date of approval | 16/12/2020
Start date | 01/02/2021
End date | 30/06/2023
Total eligible cost | 746.723,96 €
Financial support from the European Union | FEDER – 525.971,03€
Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results: Muwo aims to create an opportunity to use production systems more effectively through flexible scaling. Scalability is achieved by the development of smart hardware interfaces. This will allow workstations to advance to multi-method workstations that support both manual and automated processes. Additionally, workstations can combine different processes. A transmutable simulation validates the workstation configuration and a process combiner optimises the production configuration using AI/ML methods. Through this, Muwo improves the design and operation of production systems.
The MUWO project is articulated with the objectives of the European project 19022 muwo, approved in Call 6 of the ITEA3 programme, EUREKA cluster: ITEA 4-https://itea4.org/project/muwo.html

Project name | F4itech - Federated AI Platform for Industrial Technologies (F4ITECH)
Project code | POCI-01-0247-FEDER-181419
Main objective | F4iTECH aims to build a federated learning platform for industrial automation that offers solutions leveraging systems engineering for artificial intelligence (AI). This will be achieved by building AI models on decentralized data using a balanced approach to the learning process between centralized and distributed processing and using a blockchain approach to disseminate data.
Region of intervention | National

Date of approval | 15/02/2022
Start date | 15/02/2022
End date | 30/06/2023
Total eligible cost | 748.456,74€
Financial support from the European Union| 462.247,07€
National / regional public financial support | 462.247,07€
Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results:
1. To develop a Federated Learning Platform for industrial automation, capable of responding to the construction of distributed Artificial Intelligence models, which works based on a blockchain system. The aim is to develop a system capable of meeting the typical limitations of federated learning platforms, in terms of security, privacy and data distribution.
2. Federated Learning Platform for industrial automation, capable of providing answers to building distributed Artificial Intelligence models, which works based on a blockchain system.
International Project Insertion: The F4itech project is articulated with the objectives of the international project F4itech, approved by the Eureka cluster Celtic-Next.

Project name | SmarTravel - “Smart Travel Digital Ecosystem”
Project code | POCI-01-0247-FEDER-179946
Main objective | The smarTravel project intends to develop a digital ecosystem integrated into the concept of smart cities, which will assist and guide users’ journeys from beginning to end in respect of transportation, accommodation, and activity services. For that, smarTravel will be powered by artificial intelligence applications which will analyze user profiles, travel preferences, and pre-existing conditions to create useful and optimized journey recommendations. These recommendations will help travel planning and make the journey experience more comfortable and efficient regarding time, cost, and user expectations.
Region of intervention | National
Beneficiary |
Date of approval | 15/02/2022
Start date | 01/01/2022
End date | 30/06/2023
Total eligible cost | 499.705,54€
Total eligible cost | 482.455,54€
Financial support from the European Union| 308.276,78€
Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results:
1. Develop a digital identification platform (digital passport) with high security standards, allowing consumers to identify themselves via biometric solutions, share their identity and preferences and store their data in a secure and decentralised way.
2. Develop an intelligent platform capable of making personalised recommendations according to the personality, preferences, biographical data, motivations, and previous experiences of the user (tourist), in terms of accommodation (hotels, hostels, airbnb, camping, bungalows, etc), transport (flights, transfers and local connections, etc), and essential attractions/activities (museums, restaurants, etc), maximising the useful leisure time and experience.
3. Develop an intelligent conversational agent ("chatbot") that will serve as a personal concierge for the user, able to interact with the same both in written and spoken form, perceiving incomplete and/or context-dependent messages, with multiple meanings, and also using sentiment analysis to detect intentions, in order to support the consumer both in decisions regarding the different services presented in the previous point and in difficulties encountered during the period of stay and/or use of the platform.
4. Develop a platform able to adequate and aggregate data related to the tourism process, from weather conditions to transportation, overcoming current state of the art limitations regarding scalability, self-organisation capacity, context sensitivity, interoperability, security and fault tolerance.
International Project Insertion: The smarTravel project is articulated with the objectives of the international project smarTravel, approved by the Cluster ClusterCeltic-Next, of the Eureka network, (Project N° CE-2020-2-3).
